YES LOVE MUSIC! (YLM!)  is the first full-length recording from The Jonathan Gilmore Project.

The Jonathan Gilmore Project is a collective of Baltimore-based vocalists and musicians - a  diverse group representing a variety of demographics in terms of age, race, and gender. They are led by singer/songwriter/composer/performer and teaching artist Jonathan Gilmore.

Gilmore has performed professionally for well over a decade, and during that time he has developed a vocal style overflowing with power, high energy, intensity and skill. His musical storytelling is unmatched, and his live performances leave audiences absolutely spellbound. All the members of The Jonathan Gilmore Project were personally selected by Gilmore for their ability to match his power, energy, intensity and skill. The collective creates a sound rooted in the percussive traditions of the African diaspora, and directly intersects those traditions with the foundational elements of American popular music, from blues, gospel and soul to R & B, jazz, rock and funk. Gilmore is also a musical and cultural historian, specializing in the movement of African traditions to the Americas via the transatlantic slave trade, and the development and evolution of those traditions into African-American culture - music, dance, food, language, and so on. He has created curriculum and taught extensively on these subjects.

Key musical collaborators on The Jonathan Gilmore Project include Gilmore and:

Lawrence Robinson - One of Gilmore’s earliest collaborators and musical directors, Lawrence is a versatile guitarist who has performed with a “who’s who” of national performing artists.

Phil Thomas - First exposed to music at the age of four in church, which became his training ground as a drummer, formal training on percussion began when Phil attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and graduated from Salisbury University. Phil has performed with musicians such as Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Bilal and others.

Todd Simon - Todd served as pianist and saxophonist for the United States Naval Academy Band from 2009-2014. The Dover, Delaware native studied piano and organ at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, where he earned his Bachelor's of Music degree in 2007. After joining the Naval Academy Band in 2009, Todd continued to establish his reputation as an outstanding pianist, jazz organist, saxophonist, improviser, sight-reader, accompanist, arranger, and composer.

The Jonathan Gilmore Project greatly benefits from its focus on collaboration that is conceptualized by Gilmore and executed by the like minded artists he has gathered together. Yes Love Music! exemplifies the successful melding and elevation of different musical interpretations and perspectives into one cohesive funky sound, and will be greatly appreciated by those who enjoy music they can feel as well as hear.
